The American Watercolor Society has a proud heritage dating back to 1866. This season we will be presenting our 145th Annual International Exhibition, providing water media artists a venue in which they can exhibit their work and view the finest work of their peers. The AWS and its exhibitions have been the standard for the regional, national and international societies that have followed. The fact that water media remains widely appreciated, practiced and collected in a world of multi-media, both technologically and traditionally generated, is in no small part due to the contributions of the AWS.

In the world of non-profits, art organizations compete with multiple charities, very often from a disadvantaged position.
